Tri Auto ZX2: Maximum precision and safety for the root canal

· New endo system increases efficiency and safety

Hardly any other dental specialization requires as much precision as endodontics. The need to work on minuscule structures in highly confined spaces as well as the anatomical challenges involved place extraordinary demands on the dentist’s skills while requiring special efforts to ensure patient safety. As a pioneer in the field of endodontics, the Japanese dental manufacturer Morita has been offering high-quality solutions to dental practitioners for many decades, emphasizing efficiency, comfort and safety. An example of that is the new TriAuto ZX2, a cordless endo motor with integrated apex locator that now includes an innovative feature for yet greater safety: The Optimum Glide Path (OGP) function aims at even more precise procedures within the root canal and guides practitioners and patients to treatment success — literally “along safe paths.”

Endodontics has played a fundamental role in the more than 100-year history of Morita. As early as 1991, the dental specialist introduced the world’s first apex locator that used impedance measurements, the Root ZX. The next step in this development was the modular DentaPort ZX endodontic system that thanks to it is integrated endo motor directly facilitated the preparation of the root canal.

With the TriAuto ZX2, Morita now presents a new endo motor with integrated apex locator. The successor of the TriAuto ZX, it is the only endodontic system on the market to combine both functions in one handpiece. An LCD display shows precise measurements and provides perfect feedback from inside the root canal. This is further enhanced by innovative safety features — with Optimum Torque Reverse (OTR) and Optimum Glide Path (OGP), the TriAuto ZX2 already has two of them on board. The known and proven OTR function changes the rotational direction of the file if the maximum torque level is exceeded. Combined with the very small angular rotation, the risk of file breakage and microcracks is minimized. In addition, the system preserves the original root canal and ensures the reliable removal of debris.

The new OGP function simplifies glide path creation, making it fast and safe — and automatic. In addition, the motor can achieve apical patency using a #20 or smaller file. It transmits the force of practitioner’s most delicate finger movements to the point of action and facilitates faster and safer treatment of highly curved or blocked root canals. NiTi files in sizes #20 or smaller and steel files from size #15 can be used. OGP in combination with OTR allows the endodontic instrument to be brought to working length faster than previously possible, without blockage or ledge formation. Moreover, TriAuto ZX2 conserves natural tooth structure and makes the treatment even more economical due to a reduced consumption of files.

See better, treat better: The LCD display shows all important parameters at one glance to the practitioner, providing full control throughout the treatment procedure. Another striking feature of the endodontic system is its small head and low weight (140 g), making it convenient to use and providing a better view of the treatment field. The future-proof cordless concept significantly improves treatment flexibility and optimizes the workflow. Simple and intuitive operation and automated functions ensure reliable results at all times. The increased efficiency also reduces the duration of the treatment, providing extra time for rinsing and disinfecting the root canal.
