The design and construction of the MXS oral mirror take their cue from the proprioceptive approach to dentistry, and this promote optimal work flows – the goal being to streamline the treatment process as a whole. The MXS oral mirror, which can be used for a broad range of purposes, always affords the dentist an excellent view of the area that he is working on.

This superior quality oral mirror heightens luminous flux thanks to its extremely bright mirror surface, and prevents parallax effects in marginal areas. The result: you always have a clear view of the area you’re working on.

A reflection at the glass surface by conventional mouth mirrors leads to a second, attenuated reflection. The result is an interfering ghost.

The metal surfaces are non-dazzling. The mirror is ultra-bright and surfacemirrored.

In the interest of preventing eye fatigue during dental procedures, the surface of the MXS mirror is extremely bright. The result: the mirror helps bring the elements you’re working on into maximally sharp focus. The human eye’s highest resolution occurs in the fovea centralis, which is the part of the retina with the highest receptor density. The human eye always focuses on an object in such a way that the object is represented in the fovea centralis, which is around 0,5 mm in diameter. The remaining surface of the retina is devoted to peripheral vision. Because we perceive a given scene by means of a moving fovea, the angle ranging from one to three degrees also plays a major part when it comes to indirect (reflected) sight.

The smooth surface of the MXS mirror also promotes good water runoff, in a manner that prevents clouding of the mirror.

The small mirror surface enables you to view the area you’re working on without any visual disturbance whatsoever. The mirror’s 14 mm diameter is commensurate with the eye’s physiological angle of view. This diameter is optimal, because during precision sensory-motor work the eye is between 25 and 30 cm away from the visual field, and the most sharply focused retinal visualization area is between 0,5 and 1,5 mm in size. The area that is easiest to see using an oral mirror that is 14 mm in diameter equates to the size of a molar’s occlusal surface and the neighboring contact points.

And since, in point of fact, you can bring maximum concentration to bear on only one surface at a time, larger oral mirrors provide no particular advantage. What is instead the case is that working with a turbine and motor’s spray and a small mirror, combined with systematic suctioning, creates the ideal conditions for working with an optimally clear and indirect (reflected) view, in conjunction with a largely dry mirror.

Moreover, the MXS’s slim handle, which is a mere 4 mm in diameter, promotes fine tactility, by virtue of the fact that the mirror is held solely with the fingertips -- which requires minimal pressure. This in turn reduces muscle tension in the hand to a minimum during lengthy procedures.

The MXS oral mirror is manufactured using cutting-edge manufacturing processes, and benefits from our more than seven decades of experience. Constructed of a single element, the mirror promotes hygienic conditions, such that no bacteria can adhere to grooves or edges.
The mirror can also be sterilized in an autoclave, disinfecting bath, or thermodisinfector.

The scale can also be used to cut retraction threads to size.
